Assembly Instructions for the Tacx NEO Bike

The following article provides step by step instructions to assemble your Tacx® NEO Bike or Tacx® NEO Bike Plus smart trainer. For complete instructions including the operation, use, and maintenance of your bike refer to the owner's manual.

New Neo Bikes feature crankarms with 3 pedal insert options to achieve crankarm lengths: 170, 172.5 or 175mm or 5 pedal inserts to achieve crankarm lengths: 165, 167.5, 170, 172.5, or 175mm.

NOTE: All NEO Bike Plus smart trainers feature crankarms with 5 inserts.

Assembly Instructions

  • Two people are recommended to assemble NEO Bike. 

  • You can follow the assembly process using the steps below along with the video above

  • Reference the parts list image above to assist with the assembly of the bike. 


Step 1: Mount Front and Rear Legs to the Body of the Trainer

  1. Place the frame (A) on the floor and carefully tilt it to the back or front to mount the legs.

  2. Mount the front legs (A4) with the two bolts T8015.02 and T8015.03 and fix with an 8 mm allen key.

  3. Mount the rear leg (A7) with the two bolts T8015.01 and fix with an 8 mm allen key.

  4. Place the trainer on a firm, level surface.

  5. Stabilize the trainer by leveling the front legs with the adjustable feet (A5).

    1. Start with one side and turn the button left to shorten or to the right to lengthen the leg.

    2. Do the same for the other side.

    3. Continue to adjust until the bike has a stable footing


Step 2: Install Pedals

  1. Select the needed pedal-insert. Left and right sides are designated by L and R.

  2. Grease the insert

  3. Mount the pedal with the required insert into the axle (older model Neo Bike) or choose the appropriate hole for the desired crank length (Newer Neo Bike - see above picture).

  4. Tighten the pedals by rotating the wrench in the correct direction: clockwise on the drive side pedal; counter-clockwise on the non-drive side pedal.


Step 3: Mount Bottle Cage

  1. Mount the cage with a 4 mm allen key.

Step 4: Mount Saddle

  1. Place the cap T8010.05 in the saddle rail (D3).

  2. Slide the saddle (D1) onto the saddle rail.

  3. Adjust the saddle height and distance using (D6 and D4) bolts with a 6 and 8 mm allen key respectively. You can also use the adjustment handles T8015.15 and T8015.16 in place of the bolts.

    • Saddle max height is 26 cm and max distance is 15 cm. Do not exceed this limit.

  4. Set the saddle angle using bolt (D2) and a 5 mm allen key.

    • Torque bolt down to 17 Nm.


Step 5: Mount Control Panel and Handlebar

  1. Place the cap T8015.05 in the handlebar rail (C2).

  2. Mount the control panel and handlebars on the handlebar rail. Make sure the cables remain free.

  3. Secure the panel with a 6 mm allen key.

  4. Adjust the handlebar height and distance using (C3) and C5) bolts with a 6 and 8 mm allen key respectively. You can also use the adjustment handles T8015-15 and T8015.16 in place of the bolts.

    • Handlebar max height is 26cm and max distance is 15cm. Do not exceed this limit.

  5. Adjust the angle of the handlebars if desired.

    1. Remove handlebar cover (C1) with a Torx 20 bit.

    2. Remove the 4 screws.

    3. Set angle and secure the handlebars with the 4 screws again.

    4. Position the handlebar cover and re-tighten.


Step 6: Mount Air Fans or Tablet Mount

Note: Air Fans Include a tablet mount.
  1. Place air fans (B1) or tablet mount (T8010.16) on panel.

  2. Secure with a Torx 20 bit.

    • Use knob (B2) to adjust angle of fans.

  3. Plug in power cables for fans and display.

Step 7: Connect Trainer to Main Power

Plugging in the trainer enables descent simulation. The bike will function on its own power while pedaling.
