Utilizing Garmin RapidReturn® Sonar

Devices such as the GSD™ 28 sonar module or Panoptix™ PS70 transducer that utilize RapidReturn are able to send, receive, and display the return sonar signals at a much faster rate than previous generations of sonar.  This has great benefit to users in deeper water (up to 1000 ft) for multiple sonar types.

Why is it important?

For traditional sonar, this means that your scroll rate can remain high in deeper waters when it would have otherwise slowed considerably with older generation sonar.  High scroll rate equates to more up to date information on the position of fish.

For live sonar, offered by devices such as the PS70, it is a vital technology for providing the real-time imagery that would otherwise be unattainable at the deeper depths offshore fisherman are seeking to operate in.

How to utilize RapidReturn

For a supported transducer* that is connected to a GSD 28, RapidReturn is enabled via the preset options in the Frequency menu.

For the Panoptix PS70, RapidReturn is a feature that is core to the design.  This means that it is always being utilized and there is not a means to enable or disable it in the Sonar menu.

*Transducers that are connected and require a manual configuration for operation will not have access to RapidReturn.
