Using Daily Suggested Workouts on an Edge Cycling Computer

Daily Suggested Workouts are workout recommendations automatically provided by your compatible Edge® cycling computer. Each workout suggested is designed to provide an appropriate level of challenge while satisfying a specific need or improving a particular aspect of performance to help you maintain or improve your current fitness level. The below video will provide information and instruction for using Daily Suggested Workout on your Edge.

What Data Is Used to Create Suggested Workouts?

The following items all factor into your workout suggestions:

  • Training Status

  • Training Load and Load Focus

  • VO2 Max value

  • Recovery Time

  • Profile of recently performed workouts


What Edge Products Are Compatible with Daily Suggested Workout Feature?

See the list below for Edge products that are compatible with the Daily Suggested Workout feature:

  • Edge® 840 | Edge® 840 Solar

  • Edge® 1030 Plus

  • Edge® 1040 | Edge® 1040 Solar

Using Daily Suggested Workouts

To activate the Daily Suggested Workouts, you must ride with a heart rate monitor and power meter for one week in order to establish a Training Status. Once this has been done, you will see a Daily Suggested Workout on the home screen of your Edge. Here you can select to do the workout or preview the workout steps

If you dismiss the prompt you will still be able to access the suggested workout through the Workouts or Training Calendar options on the Edge:

Workouts

  1. Select Training.

  2. Select Workouts.

  3. Select Daily Suggested Workout.

Training Calendar

  1. Select Training.

  2. Select Training Plan.

  3. Select Find a Workout.

  4. Select Daily Suggested Workout.


I Do Not Receive a Daily Suggested Workout on My Edge

If you are following a dedicated training plan with scheduled workouts aimed at a specific event, one downloaded from Garmin Connect™ (either a Garmin plan or one you have created), or one downloaded from a third party, these training plan workouts will take priority over the Daily Suggested Workouts. You will still be able to locate the suggested workout in the workouts menu, but your training plan workouts will take priority in the prompts given on your Edge.

There are a few other reasons why you may not receive a Daily Suggested Workout on your Edge:

  • No Training Status is established

  • Daily Suggested Workouts are hidden on home screen

  • On Edge 1030 Plus: Disabled Daily Suggested Workout prompts

If you have not established a Training Status, complete a week's worth of activities with heart rate and power data to establish a Training Status. Once a Training Status is established you will receive Daily Suggested Workouts. 

If you have hidden the Daily Suggested Workouts on the home screen, you can show them  by doing the following: 

  1. Select Training. 

  2. Select Workouts.

  3. Select Daily Suggested Workout

  4. Select Three black dots stacked vertically .

  5. Select Show on Home Screen

On the Edge 1030 Plus, if you have disabled the Daily Suggested Workout prompt you can enable the prompt by doing the following:

  1. Select Training.

  2. Select Workouts.

  3. Select Daily Suggested Workout.

  4. Select Example of three-bar menu icon.

  5. Select Enable.

You have enabled the prompt and will automatically receive Daily Suggested Workout prompts for future workouts.
