Garmin Connect Mobile Device Connection Limit

While you can register any number of devices to your Garmin Connect account, Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) will only allow two compatible devices to be concurrently connected and available for syncing. If both devices are capable of activity tracking, you will also have to designate one of the devices as your primary tracker. If you have another device registered in your account that you would like to connect, you will need to disconnect one of the active devices. GCM will always try to connect to the active devices first, and if you attempt to connect a different device you may experience connection issues. In this situation, you will need to disconnect one of the active devices before connecting a new device.

There are 2 different options to disconnect an active device:

  • Temporarily turn off the Bluetooth on the active device, so that GCM will not locate and attempt to connect.
  • Remove active device from within GCM. To do that:
    1. Open Garmin Connect Mobile
    2. Access the Menu
      • Android and Windows Phone - Touch the Menu icon (3 horizontal lines in upper left corner)
      • iOS – Touch the More icon (bottom right)
    3. Tap Garmin Devices
    4. Tap and hold on the device you would like to remove from Garmin Connect Mobile
    5. Tap Remove Device

Once you have disconnected one of the active devices, you should be able to proceed with connecting the new device. Keep in mind that if you were using features of GCM that require Bluetooth connection (Smart Notifications, Music Control) these will be disabled unless they are available on the new active device.
