My Approach G6, G7 or G8 Is Not Recognized by the Computer

Mass storage devices appear as a drive on your computer allowing for easy access to data on the device regardless of the operating system. Occasionally, your Approach® G6, G7, or G8 golf handheld may not appear as a drive. To troubleshoot an Approach handheld that is not being recognized by the computer, try the following.

Checking the Connection With the Computer

  • Try a different USB port.
  • Do not connect through a USB Hub.
  • Try a different data transfer USB cable.

Forcing the Data Connection With the Computer

If the Approach is still not recognized after one minute, these steps can be tried.

  1. Ensure device battery is fully charged.
  2. Disconnect device from computer.
  3. Power off the Approach.
  4. Press and hold the button labeled GREEN/GREEN VIEW.
  5. Plug device into computer.
  6. Wait until device is recognized by computer.
    NOTE: It may take up to 30 seconds for device to be recognized as a drive.
  7. If prompted, install USB device drivers.
  8. Release the GREEN button.

Your device should now function normally.
