Managing My Track on the Alpha 200 Plus and Alpha 300 Series
Alpha® 200 Plus, Alpha® 300, and Alpha® 300i dog tracking handhelds can record and display different tracks on the map.
My Track is the light blue line left behind when traveling (the breadcrumb line on the map).
Located in the Track Manager, the My Track interface shows distance and time accumulated along with the recording controls:
Stop/Resume
Save
Discard
Other track info and functions are separated into different tools and tabs along the top of the My Track interface.
Dog Tracks show up as lines with corresponding dog colors and icons showing where they have been.
Other Handhelds (Contacts Tracks) show hunting partners track lines.
Managing various track functions can be different for each type of track. The information below is specific to My Track.
Discarding or Clearing My Track
Use this option to delete the previous track lines from the map.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap My Track.
Tap the Track Recording Controls Tab .
Tap Discard.
Tap Clear to finish.
The recording controls should automatically start recording a new activity.
Showing or Hiding My Track
Use this option to hide a track from the map. The system will continue to record track points in the background; the track line can be revealed later, if needed.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap My Track.
Tap the Info Tab.
On Show on Map:
Slider up is to show on map.
Slider down is to hide from map.
Saving My Track
Use this option to save My Track as a separate track file entity in the Track Manager saved list. Keep in mind, this command will clear all previous active information and start dropping a separate new My Track line.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap My Track.
Tap the Track Recording ControlsTab.
Tap Save.
If desired, tap the Name Field to give the track a different name. By default, it names as year, month, day, and time of save; tap that to edit and give a desired name for the track, tap check mark when done.
Tap Save icon (bottom right disk icon).
The newly saved track will display in the Track Manager's list of saved tracks. By default, the "Show on Map" feature is set to "Hidden from Map". See the next section for steps to show the saved track on the map.
Showing or Hiding a Saved Track
Once a track has been saved, it can be set to "show on the map," or be hidden from the map.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap the saved track from the list that you want to adjust.
Tap the Info Tab.
On Show on Map:
Slider up is to show on map.
Slider down is to hide from map.
Deleting a Saved My Track
If a particular saved track is no longer needed in the Track Manager's saved list, it can be deleted from the system. There is no delete-all function to delete the entire saved list; they are deleted one at a time.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap the saved track from the list that needs deleted.
Tap the Info Tab.
Tap the Menu.
Tap Delete.
Confirm Tap Delete.
Stop Recording My Track
Use this option to stop recording a track.
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Track Manager.
Tap My Track.
Tap the Track Recording ControlsTab.
Tap Stop.
To resume tracking, Tap Resume.
By default, Alpha 200 Plus and Alpha 300 handhelds will start recording My Track each time the unit is powered on. This Auto Start Recording feature can be disabled. See the next section on how to disable Auto Start Recording.
Disabling Auto Start Recording
Alpha 200 Plus and Alpha 300 handhelds will automatically start recording tracks each time it is powered on. To disable the Auto Start feature:
Go to the Main Menu.
Tap Setup.
Tap Tracks.
On Auto Start, tap to turn Off (or back On as desired).
Using TracBack
My Track can be used to get back where you came from. Within My Track's map view tab is the TracBack function. If you engage TracBack, the system will put a pink navigation line on the map for you to follow.
