Automatic Course Updates Through the Garmin Golf App
Select Garmin products offer automatic course updates when paired with the Garmin Golf™ app. This feature is designed to keep the courses you play most up to date. Starting in 2025, products that support automatic course updates will receive single course updates prior to the full CourseView update release.
For the automatic course update to take place, the following conditions must be met:
A compatible device.
- To see if your device is compatible, search for “Automatic Course Updates” in your owner’s manual.
The device is connected to a smartphone and paired with the Garmin Golf App .
The course is one of your 5 most recently played courses.
When these conditions are met, the Garmin Golf app will download the latest version of that course and transfer it to the device next time it syncs. You may receive a prompt at the start of the round that an update is available and asks if you wish to apply it now.
To keep your courses up to date we still recommend updating the golf course mapping and device software for the best user experience. To ensure your Approach device is up to date, see Update Golf Courses and Device Software on an Approach.
Why Is the Course Map Not Updating?
If the course is not updating and you did not receive a prompt that any update was available to apply, you may need to start a temporary round of golf for that course.
NOTE: The device needs to be paired and connected to the Garmin Golf™ app or the Garmin Connect™ app.
Start a round of golf on your device at the course.
End the round.
Discard the round.
Start a new round at the same course to prompt the Golf app to apply any available course updates.
