Understanding Green Contours and Compatible Garmin Golf Products
With a Garmin Golf™ Membership Subscription, you will be able to use Green Contour Data on both your compatible Garmin® device and in the Garmin Golf™ app. Green Contour Data allows you to know the topography and slope of the green at a glance. Not only will this help you determine your putting line, but it will also allow you to develop better strategies for attacking the greens and improve your short game.
Benefits For Golfers
Convenient and accurate 3D map of greens
Help develop a smarter hitting strategy
For more information, see our Garmin Technology page: Green Contour Data.
Requirements for Green Contours
A Garmin Golf Membership Subscription is required to use Green Contours.
Have the latest version of the Garmin Golf App.
Your compatible device will need to be on the latest software. Use Garmin Express™ software to ensure the device is current.
The golf course needs to support Green Contours. See - Which Golf Courses Support Garmin Green Contours? for more information.
Once you have met the above requirements, Green Contours will show automatically, when available, while viewing the green on the Garmin device. See the owner's manual for your device for how to access the green view.
What Do Green Contours Look Like?
There are two views for Green Contours: slope and elevation.
Slope Percentage
The arrows on the Green Contour show the direction the ball will break as it moves over the green.
Green Contours will show colors on a heatmap of the green. The colors will help your determine the severity of the slope at a glance. White and blue indicate the least steep slopes. Orange and red indicate the greatest sloping.
Scale
Elevation Map
The elevation map shows the topographic lay of the green.
There is more elevation change with a higher concentration of lines.
