Restoring Maps Missing or Deleted Off an Automotive Device

If the map information page on an automotive device is inaccessible (greyed out), blank, or only shows the word Update Maps without any map information, the map file may be missing or deleted from your device. For steps to view the map information page, refer to your device's owners' manual.

A missing or deleted map may also be indicated by a missing gmapprom.img file on your device drive or SD card, if inserted. It is not recommended to manually move or delete this file.

If a memory card was used to update the device previously, it may be necessary to format the inserted memory card.

To Resolve this Issue:

Ensure Garmin Express is up-to-date with the steps found in Updating the Garmin Express™ Application Software.

• • You can generally reinstall a previous map update with Garmin Express. Detailed instructions can be found in Reinstall or Change Map on an Automotive Device.

If Garmin Express fails to install that map successfully, you can resolve that with the instructions listed in Garmin Express not Working for Updates and Downloads.
