Unable to Update Alpha or Astro Software Using WebUpdater

Many Garmin dog tracking handhelds and collars use the Garmin Express™ program to update software. If your device requires WebUpdater and you receive the following error message while trying to update the software on an Alpha® or Astro® dog tracking handheld, "The update file is corrupt...",   BaseStation mode may have been activated by mistake.

To successfully update the software, do not activate BaseStation mode when connecting to the computer.

To switch out of BaseStation mode:

  1. Disconnect the Garmin from computer
  2. Allow device to power Off
  3. Reconnect the Garmin to the computer
  4. When device pops up with "Would you like to enter BaseStation mode?" select No

The device will instead enter a "mass storage mode"; the computer will not recognized it properly.  At that time, relaunch WebUpdater to try the update process again.
