Updating DC 20, DC 30, and DC 40 Collars with an Astro 320

At times the DC™ 20, DC™ 30 or DC™ 40 will need a software update in order to add features and possibly improve functionality of the collar. In order to update the software for these collars, you will need to first use Garmin Express software to update the Astro® 320 dog tracking handheld. If the Astro handheld is already up to date you can click here to proceed to the collar update instructions.

To Update Your Astro 320 Handheld with Garmin Express™ Software:

Before updating your device, you will need to have the Garmin Express program installed on your computer. If you already have Express installed, skip this step.

Connect your Astro 320 handheld to the computer with the appropriate USB cable.

Launch Garmin Express

Garmin Express will be launched during the installation process. If you already had Garmin Express installed, launch Garmin Express.

Windows: Either double-click the express icon in the system tray (next to your time), double-click the shortcut on the desktop, or search for Garmin Express in your Start menu.
Mac: Garmin Express can be found in the Applications folder in Finder.

Select the Astro 320 or click Add a Device and follow the on-screen prompts if your device isn't listed.

Garmin Express will display the available updates. Click Install or Install All to install all of the updates.

If the device is already up to date, click here to skip to the steps for sending the updates to the collar.

Review the Terms and Conditions and click Accept to proceed.

Review the important notes before beginning to ensure the software update installs smoothly. Click Continue.

Once the update starts, Garmin Express will display the current progress.

Hint: Hover your mouse cursor over the progress bar to get detailed progress information.

You will see an Updates complete! message when the update is finished.

Once the Astro 320 is up to date you can proceed to the following steps to update the collar.

To Update a Collar:

1.	Make sure your Astro and Dog Collar are powered on, in close proximity, and paired.	Pairing a Dog Tracking Handheld and Collar
2.	Press DOG.
3.	Press MENU.
4.	Select Dog List.
5.	Select the specific collar to update.
6.	Select Show Info.
7.	Press MENU.
8.	Select Upgrade Dog Unit.
9.	The update will now be transferred to the collar. If you receive an error "no dog unit software found," update the unit with Express and try again.
10.	Wait for the update to transfer.
	Once complete, the Astro 320 will return to the Dog Info page.
