"The Disk Is Write-Protected" Error When I Try to Transfer Files to My SD Memory Card
For SD/SDHC memory cards, there is a lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the switch points towards the metal contacts (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.
NOTE: If you are using a microSD/microSDHC card or a miniSD/miniSDHC card, insert the card into the standard SD adapter.
If the Lock Switch is not "Locked":
- Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this three times.
- Let it stay in the Lock position for 30 seconds.
- Slide the switch towards the metal contacts to unlock the card.
- Try to transfer files into the device.
Once the SD memory card is unlocked, the error message will no longer appear. If the lock on the SD card adapter seems to be broken, in that the lock will not remain in the open position, either replace the adapter or attempt to tape the lock switch in place. Use clear tape, making sure not to cover the brass contacts on the adapter.
