"No DEM Elevation Available" Error When Calibrating the Altimeter by Use DEM

Some Garmin® watches have the ability to calibrate the altimeter using Digital Elevation Models (DEM). DEM is a map with elevation data built into it. If DEM information is not stored on the watch or is not available for the region you are in, calibration using DEM will fail with the error message No DEM elevation available.

The watch can still calibrate using DEM if it is paired to the Garmin Connect™ app through your mobile device, and your mobile device has an internet connection. If you are receiving this error, ensure that your watch is paired with the Garmin Connect app, your mobile device is connected to the internet, and you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

NOTE: The Enduro™, fēnix® 6 Standard, fēnix® 6S Standard, Instinct® series, and Instinct® 2 series watches do not have DEM mapping stored, and must be connected to the Garmin Connect app to calibrate by DEM. Install the latest software to your watch to use this feature.
