No GPS Fix in Earthmate App
IMPORTANT: The standalone Earthmate® app can only be successfully used on a device that has an internal GPS. If the app is unable to acquire a GPS fix after completing the steps below, verify with the manufacturer of the mobile device that it has an internal GPS chip and does not require Wi-Fi or data connection for GPS. If the mobile device is having general issues with GPS, contact your mobile carrier.
In order for the Earthmate® app to use GPS from an Android or iOS mobile device, location services must be enabled. Generally, location services can be enabled from the mobile device's settings. It is also recommended to have Precise Location enabled otherwise the app may only have an approximate location. For more details on enabling these settings, see:
Apple Support - Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Google Account Help - Manage location permissions for apps
Additionally, you have the ability to enable or disable location sharing for messages sent through Earthmate. For more information, see - Adding Location to Messages Sent by Earthmate.
