Shots Missed or Not Recorded Correctly on the Xero S1
The Xero® S1 trapshooting trainer does not track individual pellets or pattern size, it tracks the core of the shot charge in relation to clay when they intersect in space. You can watch our video on how the Xero S1 trainer works here.
If the Xero S1 trainer is not reading shots at all here are a few things to check:
- Ensure proper alignment
- Trap Mode
- Unit is aligned and leveled (Starting a Trap Shooting Session)
- The correct station is being used (Changing the Shooting Station)
- Upland Mode
- Unit is positioned and aligned correctly (Positioning the Device for Upland Training; Starting an Upland Training Session)
- Ensure the clay target is visible on the screen through the entire flight path
- Trap Mode
- Ensure the correct clay color has been set
- The device can track orange, green, and pink clays in both 108 mm and 110 mm sizes. Other sizes and colors are not supported. You cannot use different colors in the same round.
- Ensure the unit is reporting ready to shoot before firing
- Ensure you are standing directly behind the Xero S1 trainer when shooting
- Verify there are no obstructions in front of the unit could interfere
- Examples: tall grass or branches
- Weather will play a factor in accuracy ( How Weather and the Environment Impact Use on the Xero S1)
The clay break or chip does not always represent the shot pattern.
- The clay is spinning very fast. This can cause pieces to come off in different directions than you expect. For example, a piece that comes off to the right might have been broken off of the top edge, but it is flung to the right as the clay spins. The pellets can also create fractures that don’t break the clay right away, but cause it to come apart a few milliseconds later as the fast spinning pulls the clay apart.
- Another reason is that even though the majority of the pattern is the left of the clay, it is possible, due to the random distribution of the shot, that the pellets that actually hit the clay were on the right side of the clay.
