Life Expectancy for the Rechargeable Battery in My Garmin Device

Rechargeable batteries found in Garmin® devices naturally lose capacity over time due to charge/discharge cycling. Under normal operating conditions, batteries should retain approximately 80% of their original capacity after a few years of frequent charge/discharge cycles. However, there are several factors that can accelerate the normal degradation of battery capacity, including but not limited to:

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (refer to the Specifications section of your owner's manual for recommended operating and charging temperature ranges).

  • Leaving the battery completely charged or discharged for long periods of time (anything longer than two weeks).

Most Garmin devices using a rechargeable battery do not have user replaceable batteries. This is due to needing to retain the water resistant seal.

For information regarding the typical battery life of a single full charge, consult your owner's manual.
