Automotive device frozen or not powering on
If your automotive device will not power on, see below for troubleshooting steps.
Connect to power
First, connect to your vehicle's power outlet with the device's vehicle power cable.
Note: It is not recommended to use a USB cable in your vehicle to charge the device as this may cause the device to think that it's plugged into the computer and display an icon of a computer on the screen.
When connecting to the vehicle power cable:
- Ensure that the vehicle's power is on
- Check the light on the vehicle end of the power cable and ensure that it is illuminated
- Drive normally with the device connected to power for at least 10 minutes
The device should power on after taking these steps. This process may need to be repeated depending on if the device power is drained and not recharged for an extended period of time.
Reset device
If the device still does not power on, a soft reset can help by forcing the device to reboot. A soft reset can also be helpful if a device is frozen and will not power off.
To perform a soft reset:
- Connect the device to a power source with a vehicle power cable, USB cable, or AC adapter
- Remove and re-insert the battery
The device should power off and reboot. It is recommend to leave the device connected to external power to allow the battery time to charge, as it may have depleted while the device was not in use.
