How do I create, edit, or delete custom avoidances on my nuvi, dezl, Camper/RV, or zumo?

The nuvi 55, 56, 65, 66, 800, 805, 5000, 2400, 2405, 2407, 2408, 2505, 2507, 2508, 3400, 3500, 3507, and 3508 series devices, the dezl series, Camper/RV 760, zumo 350, 390 and 590 devices allow you to set up custom avoidances so that you can avoid specific areas and lengths of road.

Note: Custom road avoidances may have to be re-set after each map update. Custom area avoidances should remain accurate and intact.

To access custom avoidances on the nuvi 800, 805, and 5000 series:

  1. Touch Tools
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch Navigation
  4. Touch the box adjacent to Avoidances
  5. Touch the box adjacent to Custom Avoids
  6. Touch Add New Avoid Area or Add New Avoid Road

After selecting the desired type of custom avoidance, you'll be able to select the area or road that you want to avoid.

To access custom avoidances on the nuvi 2400 series or dezl 560:

  1. Touch Tools
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch Navigation
  4. Touch Automobile
  5. Touch nuRoute
  6. Touch Custom Avoidances
  7. Touch Add Avoid Area or Add Avoid Road

After selecting the desired type of custom avoidance, you'll be able to select the area or road that you want to avoid.

To access custom avoidances on the dezl 760, nuvi 55, 56, 65, 66, 2405, 2407, 2408, 2505, 2507, 2508, 3400, 3500, 3507, 3508 series, Camper/RV 760, zumo 350, 390 and 590 devices:

  1. Touch Settings
  2. Touch Navigation
  3. Touch Custom Avoidances
  4. Touch Add Avoid Area or Add Avoid Road

After selecting the desired type of custom avoidance, you'll be able to select the area or road that you want to avoid.

To avoid a specific area:

  1. Locate the area you want to avoid
  2. Touch a point on the map that you want to be one corner of the avoid area
  3. Touch Next
  4. Touch a point on the map that you want to be the opposite corner of the avoid area
  5. Touch Next
  6. Confirm that the area you want to avoid is completely covered by the rectangular area
  7. Touch Finish or Done

The device will now avoid the area you selected.

To avoid a specific length of road:

  1. Locate the road you would like to avoid all or part of
  2. Touch the point on the map that will mark the beginning of the stretch of road you would like to avoid
  3. Touch Next
  4. Touch the point on the map that will mark the end of the stretch of road you would like to avoid
  5. Touch Next
  6. Confirm that the highlighted area contains the entire length of road that you would like to avoid
  7. Touch Finish or Done

The device will now avoid the area you selected.

To edit or delete a custom avoidance:

  1. Access the custom avoidance menu
  2. Touch View Custom Avoid List
    • Skip this step on some devices
  3. Touch the custom avoidance you would like to edit or delete
  4. Touch the menu button that shows as three horizontal lines
    • Skip this step on some devices
  5. Select the desired action
    • Rename will allow you to type a new name for the selected custom avoidance for easier identification
    • Disable/Enable will turn the selected custom avoidance off or on without permanently deleting it
    • Delete will permanently delete the selected avoidance

Repeat these steps as desired to edit or delete other custom avoidances.

To delete more than one custom avoidance at a time on the dezl 760, nuvi 55, 56, 65, 66, 2405, 2407, 2408, 2505, 2507, 2508, 3400, 3500, 3507, 3508 series, Camper/RV 760, zumo 350, 390 and 590 devices:

  1. Access the custom avoidance menu
  2. Touch the trash can icon in the upper-left corner
  3. Touch each custom avoidance that will be deleted
    • Touch Select All if you wish to delete all custom avoidances
    • Touch the magnifying glass to search for specific custom avoidances
  4. Touch Delete

The selected custom avoidances will be deleted. Please note that after touching Delete, no confirmation message will appear. Please confirm the selections prior to touching Delete.
