When activities fail to upload into Garmin Connect, the credentials the ANT Agent is using could be corrupted or incorrect. One of these errors can occur after the failed attempt:

  • A system error has occurred. Please try again later
  • Encountered an Invalid Authorization Key
  • Network Error 12037

To resolve the issue:

PC

First, ensure the date and time is correct on the computer:

  1. Click on the current time in the system tray
  2. Click Change date and time settings
  3. Click the Change date and time button
  4. Correct the date and time
  5. Click OK

Next, ANT Agent needs to be operating on the latest version:

  1. Right-click on ANT Agent icon in system tray next to the time
  2. Click Check for Software Updates

If an update is available, follow the prompts to update ANT Agent.

Once ANT Agent has been updated:

  1. Close Garmin ANT Agent
  2. Close all internet browsers
  3. Navigate to this folder location:
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User account name\Application Data1\GARMIN\Devices\numbered Unit ID folder
    • Windows Vista / 7 / 8: C:\Users\User account name\AppData1\Roaming\GARMIN\Devices\numbered Unit ID folder
  4. Delete the GCAuthorizationKey.bin, GCAuthorizationSecret.bin, and GCAuthorizationToken.bin files
  5. Create a dummy workout on the Forerunner
  6. Open Garmin ANT Agent
  7. Bring the Forerunner within range of the ANT stick to recognize the device
  8. Enter the Garmin Connect username and password when the authorization box appears
  9. Click OK

Once the authorization has been completed with the correct credentials, ANT Agent should upload to Garmin Connect without issue.

Mac

First, ensure the date and time is correct on the computer:

  1. Click on the current time in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Click Open Date & Time Preferences
  3. Correct the date and time if the "Set date and time automatically" is disabled
  4. Click the Time Zone tab
  5. Choose the correct time zone
  6. Close out of the window

Next, ANT Agent needs to be operating on the latest version:

  1. Click the ANT Agent icon in top menu bar next to the time
  2. Click Check for Updates

If an update is available, follow the prompts to update ANT Agent.

Once ANT Agent has been updated:

  1. Close Garmin ANT Agent
  2. Close all internet browsers
  3. Navigate to ~user/Library1/Application Support/Garmin/Devices/numbered Unit ID folder/
  4. Drag GCAuthorizationToken.bin and GCAuthorizationSecret.bin, or GCAuthorizationkey.bin files to Trash (skip to step 5 if files are not found)
  5. Open Finder
  6. Click Go in the top menu bar
  7. Click Utilities
  8. Open Keychain Access.app from Utilities
  9. Click Garmin ANT Agent::OAuth::Garmin Connect
  10. Click Edit in the top menu bar
  11. Click Delete and confirm deletion
  12. Empty the Trash
  13. Restart the Mac
  14. Create a dummy workout on the Forerunner
  15. Open Garmin ANT Agent
  16. Bring the Forerunner within range of the ANT stick to recognize the device
  17. Enter in the Garmin Connect username and password when authorization box appears

This should allow the Mac to authorize the device with Garmin Connect. If the authorization process does not start, remove the device from ANT Agent and add it back.

If there are multiple ANT devices that will upload into different Garmin Connect accounts, a different user account will need to be created for each device. Use the appropriate user account when uploading to Garmin Connect.
