Garmin Lock is an anti-theft feature. You can set a 4-digit PIN (personal identification number) that you enter every time you turn on your device. After you set your PIN, you can also set a security location. The security location is an actual physical location that your device stores in case you forget your PIN. To unlock the device with the security location, it must be within 50 meters or about 164 feet of the set location.

To enable this feature follow the steps below for the specific series device that you have:

For the nuvi 300 and 600 series, StreetPilot c500 series, zumo 400 and 500 series:

  1. Touch Settings
  2. Touch System
  3. Touch Garmin Lock
  4. Follow the directions on the screen to set the PIN as well as the security location

Follow the above steps to change the PIN or security location or to turn Garmin Lock off.

For the nuvi 200, 205, 465, 500, 700, 705, 800, 805, 5000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, and 1690 series and zumo 220, 600, and 605 series:

  1. Touch Tools
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch Security
  4. Touch Garmin Lock
  5. Follow the directions on the screen to set the PIN as well as the security location

Follow the above steps to change the PIN or security location or to turn Garmin Lock off.

For the nuvi 2200, 2300, 2400, and 3700 series, LIVE 1695, and the dezl 560:

  1. Touch Tools
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch System
  4. Touch Garmin Lock
  5. Follow the directions on the screen to set the PIN as well as the security location

Follow the above steps to change the PIN or security location or to turn Garmin Lock off.

Write down your PIN and keep it in a safe place. If you enter the pin incorrectly by mistake, unplug the device from any power source and turn the device completely off. Power the device back on to view the pin code entry pad and enter the correct 4 digit number. If you cannot remember your PIN, you can always return to your security location to unlock the device.

NOTE: If you forget your PIN and your security location, Garmin Product Support cannot unlock the GPS over the phone. You must send the device to Garmin for service. Please contact Garmin Product Support for further assistance:  http://www.garmin.com/us/support/contact
