How do I perform a master reset on my eTrex?

There are a few instances in which you may want to perform a master reset on your eTrex, including the following:

  • not receiving a satellite signal
  • restore the factory default settings
  • not functioning properly

All settings, user data1, and satellite data may be erased when resetting the GPS. For assistance backing up user data, see the FAQ article "How do I back up my user data on my eTrex handheld?" before performing the reset.

To perform the master reset:

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold the PAGE and ENTER2 buttons simultaneously
  3. Power on the device while continuing to hold PAGE and ENTER
  4. Release all buttons once the Do you really want to erase all user data? message appears
  5. Select Yes

The eTrex is now reset. You will want to leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
