Not hearing spatial audio in the VIRB app, VIRB Edit, or on YouTube
The VIRB 360 is capable of recording spatial audio. Spatial audio allows you to hear sounds from the direction in which they took place, creating a more immersive experience when viewing 360 video.
If you are viewing 360 video content, using headphones is recommended in order to experience the full effect of spatial audio.
If you still do not experience spatial audio on videos recorded with the VIRB 360, check the device's microphone setting.
To access the device's microphone setting:
- Press Left/Power or Right/Wi-Fi to open the menu
- Select Setup
- Select Microphone
Here, ensure that Spatial is selected. Rear Only will only record audio from a single microphone, and Off will stop audio recording altogether.
Additionally, if you are not experiencing spatial audio when viewing recently uploaded 360 video content on Youtube, remember that YouTube needs to process a video after it is uploaded. Spatial audio may not take effect until after the video is fully processed. Once uploaded, a video can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to process, depending on the length of the video.
