The following provides answers to frequently asked questions about the Garmin Connect women's health features. Choose a feature below to reveal a list of FAQs and answers.

Garmin Connect Menstrual Cycle Tracking

NOTICE: This feature is not a method of contraception

How Does the Feature Predict My Periods and Fertility Windows?

The period predictions are based on your past 6 months of logged cycles. The more you log, the more accurate they will get. Log your period consistently to receive more accurate predictions.

Your estimated ovulation day is typically 13 days before the last day of your cycle. Your fertility window usually lasts from 4 days before your estimated ovulation day to 2 days after. Your fertile window is always shown as 7 days.

Why Do I Need to Add a Hormonal Birth Control Method?

Hormonal birth control can affect and alter your hormones, stopping ovulation from occurring. Knowing your birth control helps us better predict and adjust settings to what’s to come in your cycle.

What Is the Difference Between Regular, Irregular, and No Period Cycle Types?

Regular: Cycle can be anywhere from 21-35 days long

Irregular: Cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 35 days

No Period: This may be due to PCOS or similar conditions, because you are breastfeeding, because you are experiencing menopause, or for other reasons

Yes, and if you track an ovulation day, you’ll see your fertile window adjust its predictions. If you track more than one day, we’ll adjust the window to account as well.

Why Can't I See My Fertile Window Predictions?

If you selected a hormonal contraception, your predictions have been turned off. This is because your contraception may have adjusted your hormones, stopping ovulation from occurring.

Can I Log Flow if I'm Outside My Period Window?

Why Don't I See the Four Phases of My Cycle?

You’ll see the four phases of your cycle if your cycle type is regular, with a cycle length between 20-45 days and you don’t use a contraception method. Shorter and longer cycle lengths will not show the fertile window predictions by default due to a more irregular cycle.

If your cycle is longer than 100 days, your period and fertility predictions are turned off.

Can I Import Data From Other Apps?

This feature is not available at this time. It is possible to track previous days to better refine the period predictions.

Why Don't I See the Feature in Garmin Connect?

The feature is available in Health Stats for either female and unspecified genders in Garmin Connect. If you are male and would like to track your own cycle, you can change your gender, set up the feature, and after the feature is set up change your gender to any option at that point.

Can I Opt Out of the Feature Once It Has Been Set Up?

If you wish to discontinue using the feature, you can select Stop Cycle Tracking and discontinue tracking symptoms. Adjusting these settings will remove the Menstrual Cycle Tracking Widget from the My Day screen in the Garmin Connect app and you will no longer receive any predictions.
