Opening a Downloaded File on Mac

Choose your web browser below for instructions to open a file downloaded from the internet. The download file for Garmin Express is shown below as an example.

Contact Apple for assistance if these steps do not work. 

Safari

After clicking the download link, click the  download icon in the upper right corner of Safari. Then, double-click the name of the download file to open it.

Firefox

After clicking the download link, you may receive a prompt to save or open the file. If you do, select Open with DiskImageMounter, then click OK to proceed with the download.
If you only receive a prompt to save the file or cancel the download, click Save File when the prompt appears
Click the  download icon in the upper right corner of the window, then the file name.
If you are unable to find the desired file after downloading it, press Cmd+J or ⌘+J on your keyboard to open the downloads manager, then click the file name.

Chrome

After clicking a download link, the file will begin downloading at the bottom of the window. Click the name of the file to open it. You may need to wait until the file finishes downloading before it will open.

If you are unable to find the desired file after downloading it, press Option + Command + L on your keyboard to open the downloads manager, then click the file name.
