Panoptix AHRS Setup

What AHRS provides

The Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) stabilizes Panoptix sonar views on the chartplotter screen even under rough conditions. AHRS also accounts for the transducer's orientation to show the correct sonar view, such as Forward, Down, or Perspective mode.

Leave the AHRS set on Auto. Turned off AHRS will require the transducer's installation angle to be set manually on the chartplotter.

A calibrated AHRS on Panoptix LiveScope will display a boat icon in the upper right corner of the LiveScope sonar view on the chartplotter. This icon will show a yellow cone to represent the sonar beam, the direction of which is relative to the boat's last known heading. The Panoptix LiveScope will use the previously known heading and GPS movement to calculate the position if the vessel does not have a separate magnetic compass heading sensor.

Outside factors that can affect the AHRS heading

Factors that affect the accuracy of the built-in AHRS metal near or around where the transducer is mounted, if the boat heading is inaccurate, for instance, when moving slowly through the water or when stopped, will cause the boat heading to display incorrectly. Using a heading sensor rather than the GPS resolves this issue. For the best accuracy, use a SteadyCast Heading Sensor.

To disable the boat icon in LiveScope, select Menu > Sonar Setup > Appearance > Boat Icon.
