Setting Alerts for Abnormal Heart Rate

Compatible Garmin wearables can notify you when your heart rate unexpectedly goes above a specified threshold. If you’re inactive for 10 minutes or more, and your heart rate stays above your set threshold, you’ll get an alert on your wearable. To set up abnormal heart rate alerts:

fenix 5 and fenix 5 Plus Series

  1. From the watch face, press the down key until the heart rate widget appears
  2. From the heart rate widget, hold the up key to open the menu
  3. Select Heart Rate Options
  4. Select Abnormal Heart Rate
  5. Turn on the alert and, if desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert

Forerunner 645, Forerunner 645 Music, or Forerunner 935

  1. From the watch face, press the down key until the heart rate widget appears
  2. From the heart rate widget, hold the up key to open the menu
  3. Select Heart Rate Options
  4. Select Abnormal Heart Rate
  5. Turn on the alert and, if desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert

vivoactive 3 or vivoactive 3 Music

  1. From the watch face, swipe up to the heart rate widget
  2. From the heart rate widget, hold the screen to open the menu
  3. Touch Heart Rate Settings
  4. Touch Abnormal Heart Rate
  5. Turn on the alert and, if desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert

vivosmart 3, vivomove HR or vivosport

  1. Hold the touchscreen to open the menu
  2. Touch  to access Heart Rate Settings
  3. Touch  to access Abnormal Heart Rate Alerts
  4. Turn on Abnormal Heart Rate Alerts
  5. Set the heart rate threshold that will trigger your on-device alert

  1. Press  to open the menu
  2. Touch  to access Settings
  3. Touch  to access Heart Rate Settings
  4. Tap the screen once to enable the alert
  5. If desired, adjust the threshold value that will trigger your on-device alert
