Viewing Videos and Photos from a Garmin Dash Cam on the Computer

You can connect the Garmin Dash Cam™ to the computer to view, transfer, or delete videos and photos stored on the device's memory card.

To Locate the Video and Photo Files:

  1. Plug the Garmin Dash Cam into your computer with the USB cable
  2. Press the button under OK on the USB detected screen
    • Press the button to the right of the camera/checkmark icon with Yes selected if you are using the Garmin Dash Cam™ 30 or 35 driving recorder
  3. Open the Garmin drive
    • This appears in My Computer or Computer on Windows
    • This appears on the Desktop on a Mac
  4. Open the DCIM folder
  5. Open the desired Video or Snapshot folder

The recorded video or pictures will now be viewable on the computer.

Use a third-party video player program to view content.  Check the program's technical specifications to ensure it supports the resolution you've chosen for your dash cam recordings.

If you have downloaded Garmin Dash Cam Player in the past, it can be used to view video files on your computer. See Playing Video Files in Garmin Dash Cam Player for more information.

Note: New downloads of Garmin's Dash Cam Player software have been discontinued. This means that Garmin no longer offers a desktop application that supports the management of your device's video files; however, many common third-party programs exist which can fulfill this purpose. Some are usually built into the computer (such as Windows Media Player and QuickTime) and others (such as VLC Media Player, a free open-source software) can be found online.
