Adding a waypoint to the middle of a route on a GPSMAP 4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx or 70xx series chartplotter

To add a turn into a route that has already been created, follow the steps below:

  1. Press the Home button to get to the home page
  2. Choose Information
  3. Choose User Data
  4. Choose Routes
  5. Select the route you would like to change from the left side of the screen
  6. Choose Review
  7. Choose Edit Route
  8. Choose Edit Turns
  9. Choose either Use Chart to add turns by using the map (skip to step 10), or choose Use Turn List to add turns using already saved waypoints (skip to step 14)
  10. The route should now appear on the map and can be edited:
    1. For the GPSMAP 4000 and 6000 series, use the rocker pad to move the map cursor between the two points where the new turn will be added
    2. For the GPSMAP 5000 and 7000 series, touch anywhere along the route line between the two points where the new turn will be added
  11. Choose Add Turn
  12. Move the selected point to the desired location of the new turn and the route should be adjusted to follow the new turn
  13. Choose Add Turn (skip to step 18)
  14. On the left should be a list of the waypoints used to create this route, highlight the waypoint that is directly after where the new waypoint is to be entered
  15. Press Insert Before
  16. Select the waypoint from the list to be added to the route
  17. Press Add Turn
  18. After all the turns have been added to this route, press the Done button

This will now change the route to reflect the new waypoints.
