A Windows PC with an internet connection and a Zip/Unzip program installed into it. (http://winzip.com/downwz.htm). Note that the PC will need to be accessed throughout the update process, as files will need to be loaded and deleted from the USB memory device.
A blank USB memory device with 256MByte or greater of memory.
Access to the USB port on the M502.
Preparation
When the file is unzipped, you will see five files.

boot.bin (35kByte)
updater.plf (146kByte)
firmware.plf (1,647kByte)
Copy the “cdrom.bin” file to a blank USB memory device from your PC.

With the M502 powered on, insert the USB memory device into the USB port. The unit will automatically recognize the USB memory device and show “SERVO UPGRADING” on the display.
Once the M502 has switched to the tuner mode, remove the USB memory device.
Plug the USB memory device into your PC and delete the “cdrom.bin” file it contains.
Now, copy the “M502MCU.BIN” file to the USB memory device.

With the M502 powered on, insert the USB memory device into the USB port. The unit will automatically recognize the USB memory device and show “MCU UPG” on the display.
Once the process has completed, please remove the USB memory device from the M502.
Plug the USB memory device into your PC and delete the “M502MCU.BIN” file it contains.
Now, copy the “boot.bin”, “updater.plf”, and “firmware.plf” files on to the USB memory device.boot.bin, updater.plf, firmware.plf
Power up the M502.
Insert the USB memory device into the USB port. The M502 will automatically recognize the USB memory device and show “BT UPDATE FILE1 ***%” on the display. Once FILE1 reaches 100% “BT UPDATE FILE2 ***%” will be displayed on the screen. Once FILE2 reaches 100% “BT UPDATE FILE3 ***%” will be displayed on the screen.
Once the process has completed, please remove the USB memory device from the M502.
NOTE:
• Do not interrupt the file transfer process. The M502 will automatically switch to the tuner mode when the file transfer is complete.

Power up the M502 then, while in tuner mode, press the Play/Pause button on the remote three times. Confirm that the version reads “VM-0706-1U”.
While in iPod mode, press the Band button on the remote three times. Confirm that the version reads “VS-0108”.
While in AUX mode, press the Play/Pause button on the remote three times. Confirm that the version reads “SW01.57.00”.
NOTE: If any of the software versions do not match, please perform the software update again.
