Turning an inReach SE+ or Explorer+ On and Off

To ensure that an inReach SE®+ or inReach Explorer®+ device is not accidentally turned on or off, the process to unlock a device on or off requires two steps. You must first initiate and then confirm to power on or off their device using the instructions below. Our latest firmware update has removed this requirement for the power on function. Use this FAQ to update the firmware on your inReach® handheld so it does not require extra steps after power on.

Turning On an inReach SE+ or inReach Explorer+ Handheld That is Not on Firmware Version 4.2 

IMPORTANT

To prevent unintentional battery drain due to accidentally powering on an inReach handheld the Turn On screen will only display for 10 seconds before the device automatically powers down. Make sure to complete these steps before 10 seconds elapses to turn on the inReach.

1. Hold down the power on your inReach handheld until the Turn On confirmation screen appears.

2. Press the Left Arrow on your inReach handheld to highlight Turn On in Green.

3. Press the Check Mark Button to turn on your inReach handheld. The device will load to the main menu.

Powering Off an inReach SE+ or inReach Explorer+ Handheld

Follow the instructions below to power off your inReach device when you do not plan to actively use the device to conserve the battery power.

1. Press and hold the Power on your inReach until the Power Off screen appears.

2. Press the Up Arrow on your inReach handheld to highlight Turn Off

3. Press the Check on your inReach handheld to power the handheld off.
