Checking the satellite connection on an Approach G3, G5, G6, G7 and G8

Satellite accuracy is required in order for the Approach® G-Series golf handhelds to provide a list of nearby courses for play and accurate course yardage.

There is no direct way to check the satellite accuracy on the Approach G3 and G5 handhelds. If the Approach handheld does not have strong reception from  the satellites a “?” will appear on the mapping page and disappears upon good reception.

Satellite accuracy on the Approach G6, G7 and G8 handhelds is shown with a 5 bar gauge. Green bars mean better accuracy as opposed to red bars. Tap the “power button” to bring up a menu; the satellite gauge is in the top left corner of the screen.

If struggling with poor satellite reception, attempt to find a location with a clear view of the sky so the device may properly acquire satellites. It’s also recommended to update to the latest software. For assistance updating your software, please see related content.
