Pairing Your Smartphone with Your Device

Live traffic information can be received through your compatible smartphone's data plan and can be sent instantly to your Garmin automotive navigator through the free dēzl™ App. This information allows your Garmin device to display and help you avoid slow traffic due to accidents, construction, or other obstacles.  

Installing the dēzl™ App 

First, it is necessary to install the free dēzl™ App on your compatible smartphone. See dēzl™ App Compatibility and Availability for information on compatible mobile platforms and automotive devices. 

The next step is to download the dēzl™ App to your phone. See Installing the dēzl™ App for instructions. 

Pairing dēzl™ App with the Automotive Device 

Once the app has been installed on your phone, the dēzl™ App and the automotive device are ready to be paired, if they have not been already. For pairing steps, choose your phone type below:

iPhone (iOS)

 1. Enable the Bluetooth on your phone and set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode

  • Refer to the owner's manual for your phone if you are not sure how to set it to Find Me/Discoverable mode.

 2. Touch Settings (the gear icon)

 3. Touch Phone

  • If necessary, touch Yes to enable Bluetooth

             

 4. Touch Add a Phone

             

 5. Open the  dēzl App and select Allow

 

  6. Accept the End User License Agreement and touch Next

7. Scan the QR Code on the dēzl device using the dēzl App

 

8. Wait for the app to connect to the dēzl device

9. Touch OK on the Garmin device

 

10. Touch Pair on the phone

 

11. Follow the on-screen prompts in the app

12. Touch Sign In. If you don't have an account touch Create Account 

  • If you selected Create Account enter your name, email address, retype your email address, enter your password, then select Next

13. Enter your email and password and touch Next

14. Enter the security code sent to your email address or phone number then touch Next

  • Skip this step if the code is not requested

 

15. Follow the on-screen prompts in the app

Android Phone

 1. Enable the Bluetooth on your phone and set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable mode

  • Refer to the owner's manual for your phone if you are not sure how to set it to Find Me/Discoverable mode.

 2. Touch Settings (the gear icon)

 3. Touch Phone

  • If necessary, touch Yes to enable Bluetooth

             

 4. Touch Add a Phone

             

 5. Open the  dēzl App and touch Allow to allow the dezl app to send notifications

  • Touch Don't Allow to deny the dēzl App to send notifications to your phone

  

 6. Accept the End User License Agreement and touch Next

 7. Follow the on-screen prompts in the app

 8. Scan the QR Code on the dēzl device using the dēzl App

 

9. Wait for the app to connect to the dēzl device

 

10. Touch Yes on the Garmin device

 

11. Touch Pair 

 

12.  Follow the on-screen prompts in the app

13. Touch Sign In. If you don't have an account touch Create Account 

  • If you selected Create Account enter your name, email address, retype your email address, enter your password, then select Next

 

14. Enter your email and password and touch Next

15. Enter the security code sent to your email address or phone number then touch Next

  • Skip this step if the code is not requested

 

The dēzl App will automatically communicate with the device when the device and phone are powered on and in range of each other.

Confirming Traffic Service

Live traffic service should begin automatically after your device and phone have been connected with the dēzl™ App.

To Confirm Your Device is Receiving Traffic From the dēzl™ App

1. Touch Settings (the gear icon)

2. Touch Navigation

3. Touch Traffic

 

4. Garmin dēzl or Garmin Live Traffic will display under Current Provider
