TR-1 Gladiator not holding a heading

If your TR-1 Gladiator is not holding a heading, there are two main troubleshooting measures to consider.

Please check the installation of the Compass Ball for the autopilot. Inspect the Compass Ball to ensure it is still mounted securely in its bracket and that its is not very loose. Another item to check is to make sure that the wires from the Compass Ball are pointing straight down from the Compass Ball. This will ensure the compass inside is level and will read accurately. While ensuring the Compass Ball is installed properly, please be sure there is no magnetic interference on the compass ball itself. To check, please use a handheld compass and hold it near the Compass Ball. If interference is noticed on the handheld compass, the same would apply to the Compass Ball, and the Compass Ball will need to be remounted in a place where there is no interference.

Please re-calibrate the compass. For information on calibrating the compass, refer to the section titled "Sea Trial Setup" in the Owner's Manual. After the compass calibration, please also perform the Autotune and ensure it successfully completes.
