How to Reset the Foretrex 801/901
There are a few instances in which you may want to perform a master reset on your Foretrex® 801 or Foretrex® 901 outdoor navigator, such as:
Not receiving a satellite signal
Wanting to restore the factory default settings
Not functioning properly
All settings, user data, and satellite data may be erased when resetting the GPS. User data can be backed up to the computer, therefore refer to the related content before performing the reset.
Performing a Master Reset With the Device Powered On
From the menu page, select SETUP > RESET.
Select an option:
To reset data specific to a trip, such as distance and averages, select RESET TRIP DATA.
To delete all saved waypoints, select DELETE ALL WAYPOINTS.
To restore all device settings to the factory default values, select RESTORE DEFAULTS.
To remove all saved user data and reset all settings on the device to the factory default values, select DELETE ALL.
NOTE: This option removes your personal data, history, and saved user data, including routes and waypoints.
Performing a Full Factory Restore
In most cases we recommend using the reset options in the device menu as described above. If this is not possible for any reason, follow the steps below.
Ensure the device is powered off.
Press and hold the UP, DOWN, and Power buttons simultaneously.
Once Garmin appears on the screen, release the Power button.
Wait for the device to beep once, then release the DOWN button.
Wait for the device to beep a second time, then release the UP button.
The device will now reset. Select a language, then you will want to take the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to refresh satellite data.
