Garmin Connect App GroupTrack Feature
GroupTrack allows you to keep track of other participants in your group using our LiveTrack software directly on the screen of a compatible device. Users will only be able to see another connection's location in relation to theirs. There are no interactive features available with GroupTrack.
What Are the Required Conditions to Use GroupTrack?
GroupTrack requires that certain conditions are met in order to view a participant on a compatible device.
You must be connected with the participant via Garmin Connect Connections.
The device must be paired and connected to a phone through the Garmin Connect™ app.
The app must be open or running in the background on iOS phones. For further details see: Some Garmin Connect App Features Are Not Working On My iOS Device.
The phone needs to have a cell service signal.
You must have set up the LiveTrack feature within the Garmin Connect app.
You must have set up the GroupTrack feature within the Garmin Connect app (see steps below).
Some Garmin devices support starting the LiveTrack and GroupTrack session from the device itself, but the initial setup needs to be completed in the Garmin Connect app.
A Garmin Connect Connection needs to be added to the "Visible to" field of GroupTrack in the Garmin Connect app.
You can choose to be visible to all your Connections with a GroupTrack compatible device or send an invite to specific Connections using Invite Only.
The timed activity must be started in order for the position to be shared.
Smartwatches must be using a running or cycling activity-type.
You must be within range of your connections sharing this GroupTrack session (40km or 25mi).

How Do I Turn On GroupTrack?
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Select More (bottom right).
Select Safety and Tracking.
If you do not have this option, proceed to step 4.
Select LiveTrack.
If prompted select I Consent. From here, LiveTrack supported devices will be listed.
Select the 3 dots from the top right.
Select Settings.
Select GroupTrack.
You can choose to be visible to all your Connections with a GroupTrack compatible device or send an invite to specific Connections using Invite Only.
How Frequently Does a Position Update During a GroupTrack Session?
A user's current position will be sent from their LiveTrack device to Garmin's network and display on a compatible GroupTrack device every 15-30 seconds, as long as a Bluetooth® and cellular connection are present.
How Does GroupTrack Work on a Garmin Watch?
When you have GroupTrack set up on your phone and are recording an activity with one of the compatible watches listed above, a notification will appear on the watch face when Connections are added to the GroupTrack:
To see your Connection's location on your device, you must have the map added as a Data Field. Refer to your owner's manual for instructions on adding data screens.
NOTE: It can take up to 5 minutes for Connections to appear on the map during an activity.
Your position will be indicated by the blue triangle while your Connections will appear as a colored shape with the first letter of their Garmin Connect username.
