City Navigator China NT is Shifted by Several Hundred Meters When Not in China
To adhere to regulations, the City Navigator China NT map is shifted by several hundred meters unless you are physically located within the borders of China and your compatible Garmin device has acquired a satellite signal.
While using your Garmin device within China, the device will compensate for the shift in the map and will both navigate and mark waypoints correctly. In order for this "unshifting" to be done correctly, the device relies on a .bin file located on the Garmin device and/or data card.
If you have purchased either a pre-programmed China NT data card, or the Downloadable Content, and the device is not correctly "unshifting" the map, the .bin file may need to be manually installed.
To Manually Install the .bin File:
- Plug the device into the computer
- Contact Garmin Product Support to obtain the .zip file containing the .bin file
- Copy the .bin file into the Garmin folder of your device
- Note: If you are are using a China NT SD card, copy the .bin file to the Garmin folder of the SD card
Doing this should now allow your device to successfully "unshift" the China map and navigate properly.
