StreetPilot® c300 series device showing "Low Battery" or not powering on when it is plugged into the car
If your StreetPilot® c300 series device is showing low battery, the device is no longer receiving external power.
Proceed with the following steps:
- Check the fuse in the vehicle power cable
- Check the connections between the device and the vehicle
- Clean brass contact on the back of the device with a pencil eraser or dry cotton swab (must remove it from the cradle to expose brass contacts)
- Make sure the vehicle is supplying power to the cigarette lighter (check the fuse for the cigarette lighter, turn on vehicle's ignition, try using another accessory in the cigarette lighter)
- Try remounting the device into the cradle
To properly remount the device into the cradle:
- Place the front bottom part of the touchscreen into the cradle.
- Roll the device backwards until it snaps into place
- Place your thumb on the bottom of the mount below the touchscreen of the device
- Place the rest of your fingers on the top of the device
- Squeeze the device and the cradle together to make sure it is seated correctly
If your c300 series device is still not receiving external power in the vehicle, please connect the device to a computer with the supplied USB cable to verify that the device will still charge. If the device is able to charge on the computer, the vehicle mount may need to be replaced. If the device will not charge on the computer, the device may need to be replaced.
