Using Third-Party AC Chargers, Cables, and Other Accessories with Garmin Automotive Devices

It is best to use a Garmin-brand AC adapter or vehicle power cable to charge your device. These are designed specifically with your device in mind. You may locate and purchase compatible Garmin-brand AC adapters and vehicle power cables from the Garmin website.

NOTE: The device may display the message "Attached power cable cannot charge device. Please use the cable provided with your device" if using a third-party (non-Garmin) charging/USB cable, portable charger, or USB adapter/port that does not have at least a 1A rating for output. This may cause the device to display a “Connect to Computer” message and function improperly. Also, some USB ports in the vehicle may not supply full power to the device.

We recommend using at least a 2A output rating as some 1A rating for output accessories may not provide enough power to the device.  

Garmin cannot provide technical support on any non-Garmin accessories used with a Garmin device. Any damage caused by the use of third-party accessories will not be covered under Garmin's warranty policy. Contact the accessory's manufacturer for assistance with any third-party accessories.
