How to Search, Save, Edit, or Delete Locations on a Garmin Overlander®

Choose a topic below for instructions on searching for, saving, editing, deleting or sharing addresses or points of interest (POI).

To Search for an Address

 1. Touch Where To?

              

2. Touch  to change the city/state or location if necessary

        r     

3. Touch Address

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the address information.

The address should appear in the list of search results. Select the desired destination from this list and touch Go.

To Search for a Point of Interest

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Categories

       

3. Select the POI category (food, fuel, lodging, etc.) best matching your desired destination

4. Select a subcategory if necessary

 

5. Select the destination from the listed nearby POIs

6. Touch Go to calculate a route

It is possible to save a destination so it can be easily accessed in the future. The destination will then be accessible from Favorites or Saved in the Where To? menu on the device.

To Save a Result

1. Search for an address, POI, etc., using the options available in the Where To? menu

2. Select a location from the search results

3. Touch the  info button

4. Touch Save 

5. Enter a name for the location if prompted or touch Done

6. Touch OK when notified the address has been added to Saved Places

Repeat steps to save additional destinations.

To Edit a Favorite

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Saved

3. Touch the location you would like to edit

4. Touch the  info button

5. Touch the  menu button

6. Touch Edit

7. Touch the information you would like to change

To Assign a Category to a Saved Location

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Favorites or Saved

3. Touch the location you would like to edit

 

4. Touch the  info button

 

5. Touch the  menu button

6. Touch Edit

 

7. Touch Categories

8. Enter one or more category names, separated by commas.

9. Select done.

NOTE: Categories appear in the saved locations menu after you have saved at least 12 locations.

To Delete a Favorite

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Saved

3. Touch the location you would like to edit

4. Touch the  info button

5. Touch the  menu button

 

6. Touch Delete

7. Touch Yes

 

The selected favorite(s) will now be deleted.

To Delete Multiple Favorites:

1. Touch Where To?

2. Touch Saved

3. Touch the menu button (three lines) in the upper left corner

 

4. Touch Delete Saved Places

5. Touch the location(s) you would like to delete, then touch Delete

  • Touch Select All if you would like to delete all saved favorites

 

6. Touch Yes

The selected saved places will now be deleted.
