Changing the Display Timeout Setting on a Garmin Dash Cam to Prevent Dimming

Garmin's Dash Cam devices have a Display Timeout setting which will automatically dim the display of the device after a designated period. The device will continue to record video even while the screen is dimmed (indicated by a red light), provided the microSD card remains in the device and the device remains powered on.

NOTE:  microSD cards are not included with the Garmin Dash Cam™ X110, Garmin Dash Cam™ X210, Garmin Dash Cam™ X310, Garmin Dash Cam™ 46, Garmin Dash Cam™ 54, Garmin Dash Cam™ 56 , and Garmin Dash Cam™ 66W.

To Enable or Disable the Display Timeout Setting:

  1. With the buttons (or touchscreen on the Garmin Dash Cam X310), go to Settings
  2. Go to System
    • (Go to Display & Volume on the Garmin Dash Cam X110, Garmin Dash Cam X210, Garmin Dash Cam X310)
  3. Go to Display Timeout
  4. Select the desired time
    • The device's display can be set to time out after 1 minute of inactivity, or the display timeout can be turned off.

For full operation of your dash cam see your Owner's Manual.
