Determining the planing RPM of your boat for a Garmin autopilot
Power planing vessels will be required to input their planing RPM during the setup and calibration of a Garmin autopilot system.
Planing RPM is the engine speed at which a boat transitions from displacement to planing on top of the water. To determine your planing RPM, gradually increase the speed of the boat and note the RPM at which this transition occurs, then use this information to setup the autopilot accordingly during its sea trial.
For more information about setting up your autopilot, please refer to the installation manual.
