Connecting Your Approach to a New Phone With the Garmin Golf App

After getting a new smartphone, you will have to set up your Approach® device with the Garmin Golf™ app. This article will walk you through connecting your Approach to your new phone.

Apple®

The steps to set up your Approach will depend on how you set up your new phone. Select an option below for instructions on setting up your device. 

I Selected the Option to Restore From iCloud Backup

The Garmin Golf app will be partially setup with your device. You will need to complete the pairing process: 

  1. Open the Garmin Golf app.

  2. Select Profile.

  3. Select My Devices.

  4. Place the Approach in pairing mode. For instructions, see the owner's manual.

  5. From the iPhone select Add Device.

  6. Once the Garmin Golf app finds the Approach, enter the six-digit code displayed on the Approach or confirm the pairing on the Garmin Golf app.

Continue to follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup. 

I Selected the Option to Set Up as New iPhone

  1. Install the Garmin Golf app from the App Store®.

  2. Place the Approach in pairing mode. For instructions see the owner's manual.

  3. Open the Garmin Golf app on the iPhone and log in.
    NOTE: Upon signing in, the app will look for the Approach.

  4. Once the Garmin Golf app finds the Approach, enter the six-digit code displayed on the Approach or confirm the pairing on the Garmin Golf app.

Continue to follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup.

Android™

If you have completed some of these steps, just skip to the one that you have not completed and go from there. This process should only take a few minutes to complete.

  1. Install the Garmin Golf app from the Google Play™ Store.

  2. Place the Approach in pairing mode. For instructions see the owner's manual.

  3. Open the Garmin Golf app on the phone and log in.
    NOTE: Upon signing in, the app will look for the Approach.

  4. Once the Garmin Golf app finds the Approach, enter the six-digit code displayed on the Approach or confirm the pairing on the Garmin Golf app.

Continue to follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup.
