Reactor™ 40 Autopilot Software Update

Garmin releases software updates regularly to improve performance and correct operational issues for the Reactor 40™ autopilot systems. Performing a software update on Garmin equipment helps maintain the systems and adds new features or functions when available. Software is updated via the marine network through the connected Garmin chartplotter or can be updated using an NMEA 2000® Updater.


Updating Software using a Garmin Chartplotter


  • Garmin chartplotter software updates contain software update information for the entire Garmin system

  • Ensure the NMEA 2000 system connection to the Garmin chartplotter and all the devices included with the Reactor™ 40 autopilot

  • Perform a software update using the Garmin chartplotter

Updating Software using the NMEA 2000 Network Updater



Update the Software by using the NMEA 2000 Network Updater. See NMEA 2000 Network Updater. For more information on using the NMEA 2000 updater See Using the Garmin NMEA 2000 Network Updater.


Ensure all devices associated with the Reactor™ 40 autopilot are operational and powered to receive the software update.

NOTE:  If using an NMEA 2000® Network Updater with a software version below 2.1, update the NMEA 2000 Network Updater before trying to update the Autopilot system software. See Using the Garmin NMEA 2000 Network Updater and select the dropdown "Preparing the NMEA 2000® Network Updater."


NOTE: The ActiveCaptain® app cannot be used with the NMEA 2000® Network Updater.
