XMap 8 Will Not Connect To LocalDB Server

If you are not able to connect to a server after installing XMap® 8 desktop software use the instructions below to manually create a server in the installation of SQL LocalDB.

Note: XMap Software has been discontinued. Support is now provided through documentation in the Support Center. XMap data format has not.

Creating a Server on LocalDB

  1. In Windows 8 type cmd.exe from the Start screen and press Enter.


    Note: If using Windows 7 click Start , type cmd in the search field, and press Enter.


  2. In the Command Prompt window type cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn. Carefully verify each character is entered correctly and press Enter.


  3. Type sqllocaldb.exe c "xmap8", carefully verify each character is entered correctly and press Enter. After a short wait a message will appear confirming the creation of the XMap8 instance of LocalDB.


  4. Close the Command Prompt window and attempt to connect to the server in XMap 8 software.
