Watch Link Setup
The Garmin Watch Link app allows you to connect your Garmin watch, phone, and Garmin automotive device. Once connected, Watch Link offers the following features:
Driver Alerts – Driver alerts normally provided by your Automotive Device (Sharp Curve Warning, Speed Limit Reduction, etc.) will appear on your wearable, along with a vibration alert.
Find My Destination – If you need to park farther away from your destination, this feature can help guide you for the last bit of your journey after leaving the vehicle. Turn by turn directions are not displayed.
Find My Car– This will guide you back to your parked vehicle.
Requirements for Watch Link:
Compatible iPhone or Android Smartphone
Compatible Garmin Automotive Device
Step 1: Connect the Garmin Watch and phone
Before you begin setup, your watch will need to be connected to your phone through the Garmin Connect app. Detailed instructions can be found in your online owner’s manual
Step 2: Connecting the Automotive Device to the Phone
After installing Watch Link, the next step is to install Smartphone Link to your phone, if you have not already done so. Detailed instructions on installing this app can be found in Installing Garmin Smartphone Link
Once installed, you will need to pair your phone and Automotive device.

Once the wearable, automotive device, and phone are all paired, the next step is to install Watch Link to your wearable.
Step 3: Install Watch Link app to the Garmin Watch
Watch Link is an app available for download through Garmin’s Connect IQ™ store and will install into the Apps section of your watch.
Open Smartphone Link.
Select Watch Link.
On the resulting "Watch Link is not installed" pop-up, select Install Watch Link App.
Select Download.
Once Download is selected, the app will install automatically with the next sync of the Garmin Wearable. This sync should start after touching download, and is indicated by a loading bar across the bottom of the Garmin Connect App. It may take a few minutes to download and install this app. If the sync does not start, closing and re-opening the Garmin Connect App will initiate a sync.
Step 4: Configure the Watch Link app
Upon completion of pairing, use the steps below to set up Watch Link from within the Smartphone Link app.
Setup of Watch Link on the phone:
Open Smartphone Link.
Select Watch Link.
Select the paired wearable.
In order to receive your preferred Driver Warning types, you will also need to configure these settings from your Automotive device.
Setup of Watch Link Warnings on the automotive device:
Select Apps.
Select Watch Link.
When prompted, review and select Next.
Place a checkmark next to anything you want an alert for.
Select Save.
Step 5: Using Watch Link
After completing all of the steps above, Watch Link is ready for use. To use the app, it will need to remain open and on the face of your, Garmin watch while you navigate.
When you start a route on your automotive device, your watch should offer a prompt offering to open Watch Link. Alternatively, you can manually open Watch Link from the Apps section of your watch. If you are unsure of where to find this section, please consult your online owner’s manual.
Once open, in order to receive alerts you will need to touch Driver Warnings to display this section of the app. A vehicle icon will display on the watch face to indicate it is ready to provide alerts. The watch must remain on this screen while driving. If you exit this screen, you will no longer receive alerts as you drive.
To use Find my Destination, swipe right and touch the flag icon. If you have an active route programmed into your device a circular compass will appear indicating the direction of your destination and the remaining distance.
To use Find My Car swipe right, and touch the feature once displayed. If Smartphone Link has a saved parking location a circular compass will appear indicating the direction to your parked vehicle and the remaining distance.
Other alerts (Smart Notifications, etc.) will not appear on the watch while using the Watch Link app.
