Getting Started With the Rino 700

Below is a list of articles that will help you get started with, and get the most out of, your new Rino® 700 outdoor radio and GPS.

How Do I Get Started?

First, we recommend that you fully charge your Rino handheld (see - Charging the Battery).

  1. Power on the Rino handheld by holding Power Button on the side.

    ONE CALL KEY

    Rino Call Key

    • Press to transmit an attention tone on the current channel.

    • Hold to send an emergency alert to all Rino users on the current channel and code (Emergency Alerts).

    TWO POWER KEY

    Power Button

    • Short press to adjust the backlight and check battery level.

    • Press and hold to turn the device on.

    • Press and hold until you see power icon to turn the device off.

    THREE MENU/ZOOM KEY

    Menu Key

    • Press to open the menu for a page or item.

    • Press twice to return to the main menu.

    • Press and hold to adjust the zoom level of the map.

    FOUR BACK KEY

    Back Arrow

    • Press to return to the previous item or menu.

    Rino 700 Thumb Stick

    • Move up/down or right/left to move through lists, highlighted fields, adjust sliders, or move the map panning cursor arrow.

    • Press in to select an item.

    • Press in and hold for two seconds to mark your current location as a waypoint (Waypoints).

    SIX VOLUME/SQUELCH KEY

    Speaker Symbol

    • Select to adjust the volume and squelch levels.

    SEVEN PTT (PUSH-TO-TALK)

    • Hold to transmit on the current radio channel (Transmitting).
