Downloading and Updating Charts on Your Navionics Marine Chart Card

Chart and feature updates are available for all standard Navionics®+ and premium Navionics Platinum+™ charting with an active subscription.

With the Chart Installer software installed on your computer, simply plug a Navionics card into the computer's card reader, or an external USB card reader, to launch the program.

Updating Chart Layers on Your Navionics Marine Chart Card

All Navionics+ and Navionics Platinum+ preloaded marine chart regions come programmed with Nautical Chart and SonarChart™ layers already on the card when you receive it. Users who wish to also include Community Edits on their card must do so by downloading the layer through the Chart Installer software. Download or update any of your chart layers by going through the steps below.

1. Check off the compatible chart layers you wish to update from the left panel.
   1. Nautical Chart
   2. SonarChart
   3. Community Edits
2. Press the START button at the bottom of the left panel.

Notes for Navionics+ Users

Cards not containing enough space for the installation of all chart layers will prompt for the selection and download of charts in one of two ways:
A. Update the entire coverage of Nautical Chart and select areas to download SonarChart and Community Edits.
     1. Select the chart layers to be downloaded
     2. Use the blue pins to select the area you want to download
     3. Press the START button at the bottom of the left panel.
Areas previously selected will be highlighted on the map when these layers are selected. Reselect the area to download updated chart layers.

B. Charts programmed on a memory size of 2GB - 8GB will need to download chart layers for their areas of interest.
     1. Select the chart layers to be downloaded
     2. Use the blue pins to select the area you want to download
     3. Press the START button at the bottom of the left panel
Multiple areas of charting can be downloaded to your card during an active subscription and within the memory restraints of your Navionics card. Use the UPDATE tab to download updated charting for the highlighted map areas you have already downloaded. Choose the DOWNLOAD tab to return to the map with the selection box to add additional map areas. 
To maximize the available space on the card, it is suggested to create coverage areas by using small, overlapping boxes. This will help save room on the card to download more areas.

Installing Premium Features and Overlays to a Navionics Platinum+ Marine Chart

Platinum products contain preloaded charts for a specific region. New charting areas cannot be added to Platinum products.

Downloading Overlays

Choose a map overlay to download to your card for display on your chartplotter. Choose from Satellite Imagery, Relief Shading, or Sonar Imagery.

1. Select the map overlay you wish to download.
2. Use the blue pins of the selection box on the map to the right to draw the area you want to download.

NOTES:

• Due to chartplotter compatibility, only one overlay can be downloaded to the card at a time.
• If additional areas of the same overlay are needed, after the initial download completes you can refresh the Chart Installer screen and add more.

Replacing or Purging Overlays

• Overlays can be replaced on a Platinum+ card at any time during an active subscription for updates.
• Should you change the overlay selection, any previously downloaded overlay will be removed from your card.
• Should you receive a message that your card is full, the selected Overlay can be purged from the card using the trash can icon. You will then need to select and download this feature back to the card for your areas of interest.

Additional Viewing Options

During the yearly subscription, the 3D content can be redownloaded to the card in case it gets erased erroneously.
