Garmin Pay is a contactless payment solution designed for people who are always on the move. By adding your compatible credit or debit card to your Garmin Pay virtual wallet you can make purchases with just your watch, no card or phone needed. You can use Garmin Pay almost anywhere you can make contactless payments.
Yes, Garmin Pay is a secure way to make purchases with your Garmin device. Your bank information is not being stored by or shared with Garmin and your card number is not stored on your device. To learn more about the security measures for Garmin Pay see: Is Garmin Pay Secure?
NOTE: Your device must be on and paired with the Garmin Connect app.
Create a passcode for your device.
Confirm the passcode.
Select the card type you will be adding.
Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Enter the card details.
Enter your personal details.
Agree to the further Terms and Conditions.
If prompted, verify the card with your bank.
After first-time setup, you can add additional cards to your Garmin Pay wallet by accessing the wallet from the app and tapping the in the upper right corner. Follow the on-screen prompts to add another card. You can add up to ten cards to your Garmin Pay wallet.
The steps to access the Garmin Pay wallet vary by device. For steps for your specific product, search your owner’s manual for “Paying for a Purchase”.
When accessing the wallet from your device, you will be required to enter your passcode from when you set up your wallet. If you have forgotten your passcode, or have entered the passcode incorrectly three times and your wallet has locked, you will need to reset it from the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone see: I Have Forgotten My Garmin Pay PIN Code.
Watches with optical heart rate will only ask for the passcode once per day while you continue to wear the watch with heart rate active. If there is a gap in heart rate it can indicate you removed the watch, so for security you will be prompted to enter the passcode again the next time you access your wallet. Edge cycling computers require you to input your passcode any time you wish to make a purchase. The code is also required to make any changes to your wallet in the Garmin Connect app.
If you have multiple cards added to your wallet, you can scroll through them on your device to select the appropriate one before making your purchase. The card which shows on the screen when you hold the Garmin to the payment terminal is the one that will be charged.
If you are unable to add a card, first confirm that you have entered all the information accurately to match what your bank has on file. The most common reason a card cannot be added is because it is not compatible. Some specific cards from participating banks may not be supported by Garmin Pay, so we recommend you contact your bank to make certain the card you wish to add is compatible with Garmin Pay. It can be helpful to ask to speak with a contactless or mobile payment specialist who would be able tell you if the bank received the request to add the card to Garmin Pay and a reason it may have been denied. I Am Getting an Error that My Card was Only Partially Added
If you receive an error stating that your card was partially added, confirm that the card is supported for contactless payment by checking our list of bank cards compatible with contactless payments or by confirming with your bank. Some cards are supported for making purchases via Garmin Pay through the Connect IQ™ store but cannot be used for contactless payments.
