Remove and Add a Device in Garmin Express

Garmin Express™ software is a computer application that interacts with various Garmin® products in order to sync data, download software updates, and update maps either preloaded to some devices or maps that have been purchased separately. See What is Garmin Express? for more information. To use Garmin Express the device needs to be connected to the computer using the USB charging cable or an ANT+ stick. If the application is installed, Garmin Express will launch and connect with the external drive. 

NOTE: Garmin Express is not compatible with phones or tablets and requires a personal Windows or Mac computer to use. An ANT Stick is required to use Garmin Express with the following watches: Forerunner® 310XT/405/405CX/410/610/910XT, Garmin Swim™, vívofit® 1/2/3/4, and vívomove®. 


Remove a Device From Garmin Express

  1. Open Garmin Express.

  2. Select the icon of your device. 

  3. Select Tools & Content.

  4. Select Utilities.

  5. Select Remove from Express. 


Add a Device to Garmin Express

  1. Connect your device to the computer using the Garmin branded charging cable.

    • Devices without a cable, plug the USB ANT+ Stick into the USB port on your computer.

  2. Open Garmin Express.

  3. Select Get Started.

  4. Select + Add a Device.

    • For devices using the USB ANT+ Stick, now is the time to put the device into pairing mode. Refer to your owner's manual for specific steps. 

  5. Once Garmin Express finds your device select Add this Device.

  6. Select Sign In or Create an Account.

    • The credentials will be the same for both the Garmin Connect app and Garmin Express. 

    • Some devices skip this step.

  7. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.
