Transducer Short Circuit Message with a Garmin STRIKER or ECHOMAP

When a P79 is connected to a STRIKER or ECHOMAP unit with the required Transducer Adapter Cable for (P72/P79/GT30), it is normal to receive the following pop-up message:

Upon receiving the message, the Override option should be selected, resulting in the following warning:

By selecting OK, the unit will function properly with the P79.

If this message appears and a P79 transducer isn't being used, check the transducer cable for any bends, breaks, or cuts. Ensure that the transducer is not plugged into the incorrect sonar port and is inserted forcefully enough to ensure connection. Also, make sure the STRIKER or ECHOMAP has the proper transducer selected by going to Settings > My Vessel > Transducer Type. If this continues, then the transducer may need to be replaced.
